Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about CNG and our services.
What is CNG?
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a clean alternative to petrol or diesel. It is natural gas compressed to less than 1% of its normal volume and stored in high-pressure cylinders for use as vehicle fuel.
Is CNG safe for my vehicle?
Yes. CNG systems are built with multiple safety layers and follow EWURA-approved standards. CNG is lighter than air, so in case of a leak it disperses quickly. All our installations include safety valves, pressure regulators and certified components.
Where can I refuel with CNG?
You can refuel at the Energo CNG Station in Mwenge, opposite the Coca-Cola industry, Dar es Salaam. Tanzania's CNG infrastructure is expanding rapidly, with more stations planned across the country.
How much can I save with CNG?
CNG can save you up to 70% on fuel costs compared to petrol or diesel. For example, a journey that costs TSh 100,000 per week on petrol can cost as little as TSh 27,000–35,000 using CNG. The conversion typically pays for itself within 12–18 months for high-mileage vehicles.
How long does vehicle conversion take?
Most vehicle conversions are completed within 1–2 days depending on the vehicle type. We keep downtime to a minimum while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Is CNG better for the environment?
Yes. CNG emits 20–30% less CO₂ than diesel or petrol and significantly fewer other pollutants. It is recognized as a cleaner bridge fuel toward fully decarbonized energy, improving air quality in cities like Dar es Salaam.
